Anna Suvorova

My Story
My name is Anna Suvorova. I was born in Odesa. Since I was little, I’ve loved drawing and learning foreign languages. I started fencing when I was eight years old, and it quickly became a big part of my life. In the fall of 2017, I went to my first fencing class with my dad, and just six months later, I won my first gold medal at a kids’ competition in Ukraine.
Over time, fencing became more than just a hobby – it became my passion and a way to grow. In 2023, during U17 World Cup, I met Alex Kushkov, a coach from “Dynamo Boston” in the United States. He noticed my performance and believed in me. Later, he invited me, other Ukrainian athletes, and our coach to a summer fencing camp in New York. This was a life-changing experience. I liked it a lot!
While in the U.S., I’ve got scholarships and was accepted to the Star Academy of Boston high school! So I can keep training and studying at a high level.
Today I train at the Dynamo Fencing Center, which gives me strong support and great coaching. Thanks to this, I’ve been able to improve my personal results, earn enough ranking points, and keep my position at the Ukrainian national team.
Because of the war, training and competing in Ukraine is not safe, I’m happy to have an opportunity to train and compete abroad! It is very important for my career and for representing my country.
I dream that the war will end soon so that all Ukrainian athletes can train and compete safely at home. I believe that strong sports in a peaceful Ukraine will help rebuild the country and gain more respect around the world.
